Kentucky duo Him & Him draw interest in their upcoming debut album, with the uniquely evocative, emotional alt-country tones and heartfelt intentions of Keep Chuggin’ On.
Essentially inspired by the drive to carry on regardless, to find purpose and believe in better, Keep Chuggin’ On features a country-style hook and concept, but pairs this with emo-rap-style melodic vocals both intimate and distinct.
The storytelling is wholeheartedly Americana, but then we get this folk fingerstyle guitar part, subtle bends in the distance, and a trap rhythm alongside. It’s a unique style, modest but effective, and the songwriting is able to stand taller thanks to the refreshed setting and performance style.
