The Weekend Classic A Winning Formula

-

I’m not sure sometimes what it is about a band that makes you want to hear everything they’ve ever written. In this case, I wanted in particular to see more of their videos – there seems to be a genuine, effortless passion to their performance. It seems real, intriguing, and a little intimidating. What is it they’ve captured here, and why do so many bands struggle to achieve the same?

The Weekend Classic have just released a brand new track called Shattered Glass. We love it. Their music is Punk Rock, Melodic Metal, maybe (if that’s a thing); reminds me a little of Brand New and Jimmy Eat World, back when they were at the top of their game.

The lead singer is Chris Webster; he has a certain something about his character and appearance that makes you really remember him. Only a handful of lead singers have had the same effect in the past. To name just a few, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Jimi Hendrix – a natural, raw, carefree presentation and attitude, with an underlying ‘niceness’ of sorts. I could be completely wrong. I haven’t met any of the above, including The Weekend Classic; it’s just that feeling you get from watching them. It draws you in.

Anyway, the video for ‘Dread the Weather’ was where we first fell for this band. Check it out.

The Weekend Classic. We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing more music from them over the coming months. Fingers crossed they make their way over to the UK at some point. In the meantime, you can follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Soundcloud. They have a pretty sweet Website, too. Dive in.
