Boldly skilful vocals honed over decades of performance in the West End, alongside a captivating poetic and melodic journey from delicacy to euphoric uplift – Shimi Goodman brings unparalleled experience and conviction to modern music, with the deeply evocative, classical crossover single Adagio.
Featuring moments of quiet contemplation and those of juxtaposed, all-consuming orchestral and electronic power, Adagio highlights Shimi’s audience-driven approach of a steadily evolving soundscape and performance, centred around the soulful search for true connection and Faith.
The song was first conceived in 2020, put on hold due to Covid initially, then left to simmer while Shimi created the tenor and piano duo Tiano, with his husband Chris Hamilton. The pair built the band’s reputation from the ground up, and it quickly became the main focus of their passion and attention.
Today, Tiano performs across the globe, gracing the stages of luxury cruise lines and acclaimed US venues in Las Vegas, Tucson, and New York. Once things were on solid ground for their live act, Shimi returned his attention to Adagio, and as such, this is an extensive and true passion project that has been years in the making.
A mysterious conceptual progression, a musical commitment to the concept of Adagio itself, the single presents complex instances of nuance and poetry, seeing the performance gather increasing emotional and structural momentum, towards an intense, theatrical and cinematic crescendo.
Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Shimi Goodman later studied musical theatre in London, and went on to build a noteworthy career in the West End. He now notes a plethora of leading roles amidst his ever-expanding repertoire, from renowned Rock Operas to the showtime splendour of Evita, Chicago, Dirty Dancing, Singin’ in the Rain and The Who’s Tommy. Shimi’s contributions to culture and his unwavering confidence and emotional connection to his audience consistently ring out.
This year, the new single Adagio, complete with a music film to follow, and later in the year, an Italian version of the song, seeks to carefully encapsulate the depths of that journey, and promises to engage fans of evocative classical music, epic and cinematic, theatrical genres alike, with a film-inspired contemporary sound that’s refreshingly honest, organic, and enchanting.
Adagio releases worldwide on July 3rd. Find Shimi Goodman on Instagram, Facebook, Spotify & his Website.
