Husband and wife duo Sapphire Soul keep things organic and honest, with the raw country and Americana recordings of their latest album The Main Attraction.
Featuring soaring guitars and catchy grooves, The Main Attraction employs a real-time band sound, and warmly relatable vocals from both artists – a dynamic which connects well to the inherent storytelling that guides the songs of this project.
As an introduction, Country Tale is all of this, and lays the foundation for a journey through appreciation for the little things and the lifestyle that means the most to our protagonists. This opening song is a great way to kick things off, and instantly highlights the energy, passion and instrumental ability of Sapphire Soul.
Promising 11 new songs in full, The Main Attraction is loaded with inspiring sentiments – topics ranging from the uniquely personal to the Faith-driven – and Stand For What You Believe is an uplifting and melodically snappy example of that inspiring undertone. The raspy vocal lets passion elevate the song, and the live-band realism this time creates a warm and genuine acoustic space for rightful reflection.
Things get a little playful for the title-track, Main Attraction featuring brief colourful strings and riffs united, as another country story pours through the airwaves. Sapphire Soul clearly have a lot of fun making music, and this album celebrates that proudly.
Other highlights include the quick-fingered folk stylings and the call and response energy of Vacation Over Blues, and later, the softer intimate tones and vulnerability of Lonely in the Lonestar State.
In many ways, this album captures the life and love of a modern family connected by Faith and music, a loving unit of likeminded people, telling stories of their experiences in a raw and unfiltered way. Authenticity is always valuable, and Sapphire Soul maintain that quality throughout these recordings.
