Coming in at just under a pretty perfect three minutes in full, Stitches in My Head follows an industrial drumline and heavily distorted guitar riff, towards reverb-soaked and gentle but expressive and distinct vocals for contrast. The soundscape is experimental in a way, synths and keys lighting up progressive patterns and a kind of retro-electronic rise and fall adding something unpredictable to the mix.
It’s a bold introduction to Richstreak, an established producer and guitarist who has stumbled upon an engaging blend of riff, melody and concept, and built around it a structurally and rhythmically unique atmospheric composition.
With sweeping ambient moments and storytelling carefully stripping things back to the bare essentials during the mid-section, we then build through rock and punk inspired energy and weight, and the return of the riff is comforting, satisfying, and exhilarating, as we roll towards one last explosive chorus of Stitches in My Head.
