Pass The Music: Change A Life.

To coincide with the release of his brand new song Colorado (Sara’s Song), we take a look at the inspiring project and story behind the music, and the deeply personal roots of redemption, reflection and gratitude that paved the way towards the Play It Forward initiative.

What started out as a simple release of a song about his own personal redemption story of his battle with alcohol, turned into a mission of healing and building community.

Having first met singer and artist Sara during an open mic session, Patrick knew that a collaboration was on the cards, and the duo proceeded to work together on a brand new song. In the process of collaborating, Patrick learned of Sara’s cancer diagnosis, a battle she was currently immersed within, and the illness ultimately brought the creative process to a stand-still. The two artists sadly lost contact, but with Sara’s vocals already recorded, Patrick chose to call the song Colorado (Sara’s Song) in her honour.

This encounter was the spark that ignited the inspiring project Play It Forward. Play It Forward is a music-driven initiative built around the concept and belief that songs are more than just entertainment – that they universally hold the power to connect people, to bring hope and support, and to get us through some of the most difficult situations imaginable.

For Patrick, this mission’s purpose is multi-faceted, and profoundly personal to his own story after a life of complex highs and lows. Patrick’s own mother also battled cancer when he was younger, and music became a source of serenity and respite from that struggle, as well as a source of deep connection during such turmoil.

Today, Play It Forward belongs to the world, and is focused on helping the next generation of musicians discover the power and beauty of their creative gifts, to help them improve and develop their abilities, and to provide a beacon of hope, connection, and support for those who are struggling along the way.

Play It Forward is a community-centred experience built around individuals, families, communities, and one shared live music moment. The support will be generated by the musicians using live music as the vehicle, for someone going through difficult times such as cancer, and will bring together a community of people to let them know they don’t have to travel this road alone.

The heart of Play It Forward is simple: use music to bring people together, to support people going through something real, and to pass that gift on.

The project seeks to provide emotional and financial support for people in difficulty, as well as real-world experience, confidence and purpose for musicians.
