Introducing a timeless collection of great songs – a project that’s as rewarding as it is uplifting and beautiful. Lifelong artist and songwriter Gedalya – otherwise known as The Folk Rock Rabbi – brings together spirituality, Faith, and a passion for musicianship, with the wonderful ten-track album Waiting For Redemption.

An album loaded with stories, guided by organic folk guitars, keys, drums and melodies, Waiting For Redemption notes hints of influence from the simpler eras of folk and soft rock, but ultimately stands tall on the strength and purity of Gedalya’s songwriting.

In example, the opener A Song Is Born sets the bar divinely high – a simple yet enjoyable ode to the wonder of the present moment and creative expression, and a fine indication of the optimism and brightness that makes up the rest of the collection.

Storytelling continues as we shift towards a more pop-rock pace and country-esque scenery for In The Passenger Seat. Still we find reflections on the self and the world at large – a clever balancing of deeply personal and broadly accessible. It’s another reason these songs feel like the perfect gift for music fans – authenticity and audience-awareness walking hand in hand, seemingly just for you.

This relatability and warmth continues throughout A Troubled Soul, before we enter a more anthemic indie rock realm for It Blows My Mind. Another page in the book, thoughts on the human race united in its errors and successes.

After this, the fresh guitar rhythm of Before a Moment Passes adds something distinct and recognisable, along with a set of ideas and lessons that remind you once more to treasure the power of now. Then it’s the welcomed tumble of drums adding character traits, for the broader historical musings of a timelessly impactful Freedom.

Man Of Faith – Remix offers a personal touch again but still makes sure to blend this with vague references that can easily be made the listener’s own. The keys-led song rises up with delicacy and intention, and again provides a strong reminder to have Faith and keep moving in the right direction.

Towards the end, Time Train presents a quirky metaphor with a classic three chord pattern and warming bassline, before the echoing organs of Take Time Out – Remix reflect on the struggles of the world. The song of course evolves towards the light at the end of the tunnel; another hopeful spin on reality that’s particularly valuable right now.

Wrapping things up is the simple shuffle of the title-track. Waiting For Redemption maintains the abstract memories and introspection of previous songs, and resolves to a bright and catchy chorus that naturally lingers once the music has ended.

Gedalya’s positivity is infectious, and consistently connects through both the stories and musical arrangements of this album. Waiting For Redemption is a real pleasure to let brighten your day.
