Fowlie - Space Meat - Stereo Stickman

Fowlie Space Meat

-

Creative artist Fowlie achieves a likable niche with the sound of Space Meat.

Somewhat intertwining the nostalgia of grunge and indie fuzz, with a dreamier overtone and a freestyle indie songwriter vocal thread, the single introduces an artist with a unique sense of observational and personal storytelling carefully united – Space Meat delivers an almost shoegaze-like arena of guitars, bass and production, with a classic rhythm and a subtle meeting of rap and melody throughout.

Always resolving with the simplicity of a poetic and tuneful chorus, Space Meat falls somewhere between the likes of Courtney Barnett, Deftones and PJ Harvey, but makes sure to blend in a subtle twist of mainstream familiarity just in case.

The song has the outward appearance of being free from he confines of genre and expectation, almost quirky in its performative, theatrical state, but at the same time – there’s a defiant level of structure and purpose to the arrangement. This quality, when combined with the implications of Space Meat as a concept, allows the whole thing to captivate with ease.

An impressive introduction to Fowlie, to say the least – I look forward to hearing where else this kind of original creativity takes things in the coming months.
