Wholly encapsulating the concept of drug-induced euphoria, Cxld’s new single and video make for a late-night hit of escapism that feels all at once contemporary and alternative as it pours through.
Featuring the classic repeat of short vocal bars that make up much of the modern hip hop scene, Euphoria also throws in some artistically relevant and less predictable sound design – not least of all this wash of reverb and dreamlike distance that consistently reinforces the intoxication of the concept.
Combine that with a series of equally warped and fast-changing visuals, and the whole thing tackles the mood of the topic in a pretty relevant way. It also reintroduces the artist Cxld as one with a modern sound yet an artistically free and intentional way with creating – a line less commonly walked, and one that’s done to an impressively on-point level here.
Simple yet effective creative choices help really bring the whole mood to life.
