Coda Nova - Entanglement - Stereo Stickman

Coda Nova Entanglement

-

Atlanta progressive rock outfit Coda Nova are slowly but surely building a unique name for themselves in modern alternative music. Their latest release works well to secure that progress, both by defying expectation and outright showcasing the ability, precision and soul at the heart of their music.

Wholly instrumental and their first release of this nature, Entanglement pours through like a cinematic rock soundscape of thoughtful drops and euphoric peaks.

Coming in at a genre-worthy five minutes and thirty-two seconds, Entanglement wraps its rhythm and melody around the listener with ease, presenting both a quickness and secure sense of presence that connects and uplifts. The drum sound is fierce, the guitars walk the line between that same ferocity and a more dreamlike delicacy, and the long-form style of the tune and arrangement in full presents a satisfying yet impressively unpredictable venture.

Switching gears during its mid-section, Entanglement veers towards a grittier, heavier rock sentiment and sound, the fuzz and space of that third quarter indicating a whole new part of the story, and promising rightfully rising anticipation along the way.

Then to finish, the mood brightens, the guitar recaptures its playful quickness and tone from earlier, and we’re back into the familiar and musically compelling optimism that first started things off.

Inspired by the likes of Joe Satriani, The Contortionist, Dream Theater and Umphrey’s Mcgee, Coda Nova are an act who have mastered their approach to live, organic music, and in doing so have maintained their passion for the immersion of the process. Entanglement highlights the very best of their ability and unity as a band, and at the same time offers just enough of those familiar twists and features to gift the track an unmistakable, easily recognisable quality.

An enchanting listen, an Entanglement in tale but also for the audience who delves in. Enjoy.
