Bedroom Ceilings Spring Grass

-

Adopting a folk-rock aura that brings the performance right through to your living room in a raw and genuine fashion, Bedroom Ceilings attempt to shine light on the little things worth celebrating in life.

The day-to-day routine can grow tiresome or stressful for many adults, and while the verses here sound fit to combat that perspective, the hook drops in like a hit of sudden realism and relatable understanding.

The song isn’t consistently joyful by any stretch of the imagination, but the verses certainly are. Expect to find yourself swept away on the energy of the natural world, the brightness of these melodies and this piano work, then suddenly and surely swamped by a vast sense of weight and uncertainty – much like how real life tends to get to us.

The darkness is fleeting, thankfully – a powerful representation of real life, once again. The song proceeds to wrap its surf-rock swagger and optimism around you as it comes to a stylish and hopeful finish.

All in all, a fine introduction to a uniquely expressive band. A dash of Elliott Smith meets with a hint of Beach Boys and even a slight touch of Radiohead on occasion. I look forward to hearing more from these guys.
