Lawyer and family-man Beatzler has been producing music for over 15 years, and this year, he delivers a boldly eclectic album of high-quality original songs, as the aptly-titled new project FutureBreaker.
Beginning with the country-pop jam Grillout Season, there’s a quickly catchy vibe to the colourful approach, a spacious and crisp set-up driven forwards by a classic country vocal style and short, snappy lines and rhymes. The melody has a longer-form quality to the verses, a unique twist on the current landscape of country, and always we resolve to the uplifting simplicity and energy of the chorus.
Instantly an earworm, Grillout Season feels like the perfect introduction to this versatile album. The project then moves through a variety of production and vocal styles, with good vibes and vivid imagery always a key part of the expression.
In example, Neon Midnight is another highlight, but for entirely different reasons. Here we enter an ambient dance-funk realm, with a riding bassline and female vocals adding short lines and wave-like melodic highs and lows, for a dreamy to euphoric indie hit. Neon Midnight is creatively uninhibited, and manages to feel like both a floor-filler and a worthy dose of relaxing late-night escapism at the very same time.
Featuring instances of hip hop, pop, rock, funk and dance, FutureBreaker is an example of the sheer fun and focus that modern production tools have gifted to the greater population. Wild Wild West Virginia is another anthemic earworm and a definite highlight, but the whole playlist has plenty of memorable gems.
Beatzler’s love for music knows no limits, and FutureBreaker celebrates that with fierce versatility and a clear awareness of structural impact and songwriting appeal.
