Pure heart and the freedom of acoustic expression light up the distinctly recognizable tone and warmth of bachaby’s appraisal mirror.
Instantly indie-nostalgic for the vintage capture of that acoustic guitar strum, the song goes on to bring in a pair of vocal leads – one characterful and questioning, the other softer and more reflective in response.
It’s an effective dynamic, and the unity between the guitar and vocal melody works beautifully. On top of this, the raw and somewhat shaky vocal presentation seems to further reinforce the uncertainty and longing of the lyrics – drawing rightful focus to the very concept of this relatable appraisal mirror.
Indie-folk passion and story showcase a fine balance of timeless musicality and contemporary wonder, and as the soundscape gathers subtle momentum, the mood connects all the more so.
Beautifully honest, uncomplicated yet musically engaging – it will be interesting to hear where else the music takes bachaby throughout their latest project.
