Not for the faint of heart, but absolutely for all of us who’ve reveled in the bizarrely captivating world of the Netflix extravaganza that was Tiger King this lock-down.
The aptly name 666Doomsayer takes an industrial sledgehammer to Joe Exotic’s ideas and statements, crafting around them a heavy hit of creative and contrast-full dub-step, complete with distorted synths that strike like lightening and refuse to let the dust settle until all is said and done.
Barely scraping past the two-minute mark, Tiger King kicks off with a mass downpour of sirens and chaotic drums – hypnotic, unsettling synth riffs, disjointed melodies and hard-hitting fragments of familiarity. Humanity comes face-to-face with uninhibited electronic sound design. Lines like I’ve had my days with meth linger briefly in the mind, before the audio quickly slams back into your consciousness with the grit and gnarly gusto of a vengeful tiger.
An addictively haunting, enjoyable track, loaded with equal parts darkness and humor. A poignant sign of our times to look back on, and a refreshing alternative to the more vague, quarantine-themed songs that are consistently washing up on our shores. Listen loud if you dare.
