Cush Wallace - Playin' Games - Stereo Stickman

Cush Wallace Playin’ Games

-

Retro synths and smooth vocals light up the new trap-pop anthem from Cush Wallace.

Weave in a selection of topical, cultural references throughout a fast-paced series of bars, and a sudden switch to melodic stylings part way through, and Playin’ Games manages to keep things both relevant and fresh.

Conceptually focused on the romantic side of things, the track proves musically eclectic with its contemporary rhythm and otherwise minimalist, nostalgic synth progression. The cleanly mixed vocal also feeds into the latter, but the variation in flow helps rebalance things once again. And always we resolve back to the catchy rise and fall of the hook, with the unmistakable and accessible Cush voice at the forefront.

Good vibes, smart design but subtle and easy to freestyle over – something that seems to have taken place at first, before the full structure and return to that infectious hook rolls around. Cush Wallace blends modern songwriting appeal with that clear identity from previous releases, starting off the new season on a high.
