MACKAVON Time and Place (Prod. Sogimura)

-

Driving right along the edge of contemporary genre fusing, MACKAVON injects emotive song-writing into an electronic rock sound and style for a truly immersive, addictive hit of modern alt-pop and conceptual poignance.

Blending rap and melody, presenting clean-cut vocals that meander through various flows, Time and Place makes fine use of a simple lyrical repeat for the most part – weaving a hypnotic web around listeners, offering just enough detail and variation during the verse to explore the topic a little more clearly.

Musically the style of Time and Place aims high and hits the mark – distorted power chords, dreamy synths, a hip hop-ready rhythm and an equally rap-inspired yet expressive voice.

Coming in at barely past the two-minute mark, the single manages to hit with impact and leave its rhythmic, melodic hook lingering longer than the average hip hop release. MACKAVON lets creativity guide the way, and it works. Hopefully there’s more to come.
