Rollz Royce storms through with a surprisingly complex and well-structured anthem of a track this season. The aptly titled Win It functions brilliantly as a quick boost of inspiration and positive energy whenever you need it.
Balancing his personal story with an unwavering sense of possibility and dedication, the single impresses on multiple levels, introducing an artist with a clear skill for writing, performance, and sound design all at once.
The intensity of the soundscape and Rollz Royce’ own passionate, high energy vocal, draws comparisons with the uplifting, motivational work that once made waves from artists like Eminem and Jay Z. The verses in particular create a sense of rising anticipation, similar to that of Not Afraid or even Lose Yourself. However, Win It undoubtedly drives with more of a contemporary, electronic backbone. The hook especially, adds a melodic flavour that transports the track away from purely hip hop and well and truly towards the realms of anthemic pop and RnB.
The contrast between sections works well, that chorus resolving and satisfying following the weight and power injected during the verses. A strong release – hopefully there’s more to come.
