Seamlessly blending the melodic rap tones of contemporary releases, with a notably thoughtful, poetic and personal writing and performance style, these crisp recordings and clean-cut vocals reach out to connect in a genuine, heartfelt way.
From the offset, Idk How pours through with the strength of addictive melody and vulnerability united. Wolf Mason lays bare his truth, reflecting on life and the role of the self, whilst crafting a smooth and addictive soundscape underneath it all.
As things progress, the rapper’s vocal skills shine all the more brightly. Dear, Jill sees a Bieber-like vocal drive with unquestionable soul and a flawless, meandering delivery. The soundscape balances organic guitar picking with a trap-style beat, keeping things light and optimistic, contrasting with the opener but still holding close to that subtly unique style that is the Wolf Mason sound.
This eclecticism stands tall throughout these four tracks. From emo-rap influences to pop, RnB and indie, a plethora of memorable riffs emerge, along with catchy, anthem-like hooks, and a variety of vocal styles that effectively highlight a versatile and vastly capable artist.
I Can’t Sleep, and Idk Why is everything the title promises and then some. Impressive tunes, realism, emotional honesty, talent. A strong reminder of the skill and passion that exists just beneath the mainstream radar.
