Tessa Dalton - You See Me - Stereo Stickman

Tessa Dalton You See Me

-

Evocative and ambient piano-pop with a distinctly soulful, recognisable longform melodic story at its core – Award-winning Fiddle Player and multi-instrumentalist Tessa Dalton continues her climb as a solo singer-songwriter, with the launch of her gorgeously harmonised and intimate new single You See Me.

Rising up with passionate intensity but maintaining its solo-piano softness underneath this, the track builds towards an empowered crescendo of rhythm and boldly expressive vocals. The story is gripping, revealing and both personal and accessible, yet always we resolve to the clever simplicity and connection of the title and hook. Think somewhere between the styles of Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish.

Tessa Dalton writes from a place of fearless depth and reflection, carving out a lane in modern music that’s notably authentic in portraying both the highs and lows of life – the successes and errors in this journey with oneself. You See Me encapsulates that quality, and offers a unique twist on the classic love song that’s refreshingly true to the uncertainty and longing of current times.

Prior to this, Tess Dalton captured a quirkier pop energy with the likes of her single Overkill, and has amassed hundreds of thousands of streams across her growing repertoire as she continues her musical studies in Nashville.

Overkill features retro distorted dance synths to intensify the hook, a catchy bass line, and slightly more bold, faster-paced vocals, which aptly showcase a whole other side to the singer and songwriter.

Then there’s the striking realism of I Keep Changing, an indie-pop single with space and guitars lighting up a string of lyrics that instantly enthral. ‘I’ll probably never be happy with what I have’ makes for a compelling opening line, and the song builds up to explosive, near pop-punk or EDM levels as things roll along. Still that Dalton voice remains, the identity in both writing and tone, standing tall regardless of mood or style.

Intent on releasing a new single every month for an entire year, the latest four singles represent only the past four months, beginning with the acoustic guitar and string-led emotional poignancy of One More Night – Tessa’s most streamed song so far.

This introduction to her solo project laid bare a quietly contemplative yet still passionate and poetic ode to honest songwriting, and led with strong melodies and an organic pop-rock arrangement that was naturally timeless.

Absolutely one to look out for this summer, Tessa Dalton has already released what feels like half of a greatest hits album, and there’s plenty left to come. Tune in.
