Ambient sound design, poetic conceptualisation, and intriguing artwork – Mirrors starts off strong and refuses to lower the bar throughout.
Stylistically in keeping with the melodic-rap, emotional yet smooth sound of the recent hip hop scene, the track progresses with just enough depth and identity to also separate itself from the masses. The lyrics intrigue, reflecting on life and the self, the image of us, the impact of perspective. They go on to build further on these ideas, the energy mounting up – the pace doesn’t increase but the verses become more relentless as the story reaches its ultimate peak.
Always resolving back to this idea of the mirror, of not recognising yourself, the track sees Taed lead with an upfront and intimate vocal line, which is loaded with character and also sounds genuine and believable in its delivery of this contemplative single.
A memorable introduction to a thoughtful artist, with fine production and beat design from DerrDLeekdoe and KNYD alike.
