Unique instrumentation, sound-design and songwriting all combine to unpredictable, dark and unsettling results, as Staytus kicks up the artistry of modern music, with Disease Of The Mind.
Taking subtle hints of influence from the likes of Nine Inch Nails and even Bjork, but more notably veering towards the independent creative troubadours unconfined by genre or industry expectation, the project keeps things unorthodox and fearlessly intense throughout.
At the same time, contrast works its magic well – consider the quietness and eerie opening moments of Absolute Terror, before the explosive and distorted latter half. All the while, Staytus delivers an almost freestyle-esque vocal top layer, and intrigues with stories, scenes and personal emotions intermittently as things evolve.
Creatively its own beast of exploration in both style and idea, Disease Of The Mind makes and breaks its own rules across the entirety of the project and Staytus as an artist introduces an unrivaled degree of identity.
