Modest yet immersive creativity sees a softly evolving sense of anticipation and presence captivate – producer and artist Alex Hammond, known to the scene as Spatial Drift, presents an ethereal embrace both nostalgic and impressively fresh, for the aptly-titled track Beyond The Boundaries of Time and Space.
The first single from his brand new album Cosmic Sequence, Beyond The Boundaries of Time and Space captures affection for its wavelike rise and fall and the simultaneous industrial to sci-fi build up of a plethora of nostalgic layers.
We’re in an electronic dance realm, soaked in influence but arriving ultimately amidst a sound unique to the modern day Spatial Drift. Think downtempo, techno, and house, with a cinematic and perhaps retro twist of the unexpected woven in. The vibe is mellow but other-worldly, electronically doused yet dreamy in its sense of calm and colourful exploration. The mid-section in particular takes us through these underwater fragments of movement and sound, before evolving into a darker and more intense rhythmic arena of depth. f
Inspired by industry legends from William Orbit to Recoil, Spatial Drift maintains the purity of electronic sub-genres, the classic synths and fusion of traits found across the underground scene, and at the same time makes sure to imprint his own distinct stamp of identity – the likes of which will likely stand tall throughout the new album.
