Spartakizz - Work Hard - Stereo Stickman

Spartakizz collaborates with Murks for the five-minute epic that is Work Hard. Set up to build intensity and musicality from the offset, a simple horn intro leads into a contemporary hip hop beat and a series of accompanying visuals that showcase a thoughtful, intentional story-line.

As things progress, the lead vocals create a powerful sense of dynamic, not merely between the rap and the melody, but between the levels of character and tone that comes through in every case. The structure works as hard as the visual scenes to hold tight to your attention throughout.

Meanwhile, the underlying subject matter is that of hustle, earning, working your way up, and reflecting on that journey. It’s a story tainted with struggle, soaked in honesty, and refusing to succumb to expectation. Truth leads the way, and this is what makes the whole thing so captivating.

Undeniably knowing their audience, and catering to that but also driving with personality and realness, Work Hard showcases a meeting of artists with a shared vision, and a similar string of experiences behind them. While there are moments of colour and uplifting rhythm, there are also plenty of serious reflection and thought-provoking revelation. The contrast works well.

A great track – eye-opening, dark, and well worth a listen.
