Sleazy Ed - Nastolgia - Stereo Stickman

Sleazy Ed Nastolgia

-

Deep bass and soulful RnB vocals pour through with a blissful degree of nostalgia – Sleazy Ed introduces a smooth take on good-vibes and real-life storytelling, with the likes of Nastolgia.

From the EP Sleazy Does It, this track showcases the instant charisma and appeal of Sleazy Ed. The set-up is old-school but mellow and crisp enough to connect, and the vocal tone and bars feel instantly original – blending metaphors and personal anecdotes in a way that naturally holds attention.

The same project also introduces us to the boldly upbeat groove Bakyard Boogie – an impressively produced original track, again nostalgic by nature, and with a quicker-paced outpouring from our leading artist Sleazy Ed. The voice is no less distinct, the ideas a little more laid-back and playful, but in keeping with the colourful nature of this instantly recognisable soundscape.

It’s a great track, from a four-track EP that seamlessly highlights the versatility and musical freedom of Sleazy Ed. Sho Me Luv is another from the same collection, which breathes unexpected diversity into the space once again – a breathy lo-fi arrangement with a fiercely heavy bassline, and a flow that feels mildly theatrical and unpredictable as it rolls along.

Elsewhere Sleazy Ed has made some equally striking appearances on tracks that further his unique identity and skill level as an indie artist.

Miscellaneous is a sharp and musically memorable example. From the 2024 album Crack Babies Tape.1, Miscellaneous again makes fine use of an old-school production, distinct horns and keys lighting up a smooth backdrop, with grittier and more confident bars driving the front-line from Sleazy Ed, Eastcyde, and RB.

Sleazy Ed keeps things interesting, fun and engaging – leading with a profound kind of humility in tone and energy that naturally lets the smart wit of the bars take precedence. The creativity of the music underneath this completes the process brilliantly. An easy must for original hip hop fans past and present this year.
