Great vibes, great structure – an album reminiscent of those crafted with purpose and story, designed to entertain and impress all at once. romethegreat sets the scene with ease, as I Am Coming opens up the mighty ten-track album Godlike 2.

Colourful big-band production stands tall throughout, along with fiercely confident and stylish performances from romethegreat and a handful of featured indie legends. The opener sets the bar high and Dollar and The Dream more than follows it up with another peak-energy anthem to motivate and inspire.

Then for Baggage, nostalgia really takes the wheel – retro synths and keys setting a smooth eighties vibe as another fresh story proceeds to intertwine details, images and personal reflections, for a compelling listen that again depicts sheer originality and skill on the mic.

I Got A Plan also keeps that mellow soulful energy at the forefront, but presents a new flow and tone in between sublime hook moments to again present an attention-tight dynamic.

Performatively theatrical in a unique way akin to the likes of Lil Wayne, The Good Life is a fine example of the versatility of romethgreat’s ability on the mic. The story and delivery pour through like waves of scenery and contemplation, simple pictures and personal reflections. Then for I Ain’t, intensity rings loud – a strong riff setting a whole new haunting ambient mood, for a provocative and fascinating listen that’s easily a creative highlight.

Artistic intention shifts once more, for the guitar and synth-led smooth flow and vibe of I Get Paper, before the former instrument takes precedent, alongside a humble bassline, for the grateful, memorable and focused favourite Peace Love and Good Vibes.

Towards the finish line, Attitude takes a moment to recapture attention with purpose and space. A storytelling but soulful ode to both originality and relationship turmoil – a quirky and catchy rhythmic hit, and a great way to lead us into the gentle warmth and chillout vibes of the RnB-kissed passion and prowess of closing track No Feelings.

Unmistakable vocally, smart and sharp lyrically, entertaining and diverse on the musical front – romethegreat exercises the implications of his name, with the freely expressive good vibes of the brand new project Godlike 2.
