Rob Georg - Sunsets At The Ranch - Stereo Stickman

Rob Georg Sunsets At The Ranch

-

A lovely lullaby of country pop, sung gently and with its heart on its sleeve.

Rob’s got a terrific and subtle country twang to his vocal that lends a lot of authenticity to proceedings, and the slide guitar, picked acoustics and ghost of a drum kit all pour audio honey over the whole.

The lyric focuses on family, companionship, love… and the lyric’s effect, along with the warming cuddle of the backing track, feels like taking a large shot of the smoothest liquor you’ve ever tasted; and then settling back to watch the sunset.

There’s a video to accompany the track, which features Rob and his gal silhouetted against a particularly good example of the titular phenomenon. It’s the perfect uncomplicated and unpretentious companion to the song.

Whilst the overall effect of the piece is one of simplicity, the eagle-eared amongst you will appreciate the fabulous instrumental skills of all of the musicians on Sunsets At The Ranch. The way that the many guitar tracks interact with each other, and how the subtle keys are layered in to the mix, is genuinely thrilling – albeit in the muted Nashville colours of this most gentle and ruminative of songs.

The capture and production of all the sounds has been loved, as loved as the sunset and the object of Rob’s affection. It’s grown up, and measured, but also moving and emotional as the honesty behind the piece glows through. I think we could all do with taking the time out to watch a few Sunsets At The Ranch.
