PaperFace impresses on a whole new level with this latest release. An unexpectedly dreamlike soundscape backs up a dramatic lyricism yet a calm and collected delivery.
There’s intention and depth to the track from the offset – the ambiance and the artist’s own vocal drive unite to represent this. The whole thing draws you in further and further as it progresses, feeling almost like a passionate outburst or a freestyle in many ways, though clearly holding close to well-crafted bars and articulately gathered statements.
Moment is a deeply personal track, but it’s been created in an accessible way. There’s no verse-hook-verse-hook simplicity, instead this feels like an ongoing, necessary outpouring – a moment of deep reflection that rises in energy throughout. As it does so, you feel that uplifting sense of possibility just by listening, and despite the personal nature of the story-line – there’s plenty to connect with; it feels perfectly designed to motivate and energize, to remind any listener that things can and will happen if you keep looking ahead and keep working towards it. Dream big, let the music envelop you as the anthem that it is – let these ideas and this inspiring sense of optimism invigorate you.
PaperFace and E.Berrios collaborate beautifully on this release. The soundscape is refreshingly unique, those distant riffs echo in your mind after listening – as do the rapper’s thoughts on life and on growing as a person and an artist. A single run through is far from enough, and fortunately – the track gets better with each revisit. An easy addition to the playlist.
