Back with another quickly impressive collaborative effort, OpenSoul’s latest single Good Time is a brilliantly anthem-like, energizing and summer-soaked hit that proves increasingly likable as it pours through.
From a simple reggae set-up, smooth melodic beginnings, through an array of voices and melodies, an ever-immersive rhythm, and a beautifully eclectic, colourful soundscape on the whole, the track works hard but utilizes simplicity. These qualities fuse well in drawing listeners over and holding onto to their affection right the way through.
Good Time features a rightfully energizing bounce of a beat. The chord progression is just complex enough to give it an edge, but not so much so that it loses its accessible, familiar pop core. Meanwhile, Andon and Dayla Foxx add perfectly relevant yet refreshing hits of character as their verses emerge.
The completed track has an addictive core, uplifting and hopeful, yet also consistently evolving so as to create dynamic; and to genuinely offer a string of original qualities, which help give it real strength and identity.
Beautifully done, a winter warmer that’s catchy enough to really leave its mark.
