Subtle organic rhythms and dreamy synths meet with unplugged guitar and echoes of vocal wonder. Never Let You Down feels like a nostalgic trip-hop gem on the one hand, but something impressively distinct and ever-changing on the other.
The music proceeds to deliver something quite intense and retro during its final third, unexpectedly re-capturing any wandering attention, and yet underneath this, the unique and dreamy groove continues to work its recognisable magic.
An impressive take, from a three-track EP that’s equally colourful and creative yet introspective in a truly human, confidently compelling fashion. Close My Hand is more notably catchy, a bright and Alt-J-like alternative track with a twist of mainstream appeal, but still the Ocean Flor integrity rings loud, and with charm.
