Dreamy electronic design intertwines the ambient and euphoric, as creative producer Nurhop showcases the delicacy and finesse of his approach to modern production, with Slow Motion.
Ryan Berthelsen is the artsit behind Nurhop, an Atlanta-based musician and producer with a lifetime of creativity and work ethic combined to his name.
Taking its time to build, Slow Motion begins as an ethereal soundwave – hints of incoming ambience, atmospheric synths and details all warmly intertwined, to initially invite stillness and serenity. Soon enough, the bass and beat combination adds a modest groove, and we’re welcomed into an hypnotic realm of fragmented voices and intricacies.
Essentially uniting the organic and the programmed, Slow Motion features elements of guitar and voice alongside an ocean of synths and light rhythmic patterns. The idea was to create something that feels ‘both weightless and crushing’, a careful balancing of the gentle and intense, and when listened to at volume, through high-quality speakers or headphones, the experience is truly left for the audience to decide in which of those directions it will take them.
