Nikol Star P$RTY AND POST

-

Nikol Star leads with an undeniably poignant and socially relevant subject matter on this latest release. Pouring through with darkness and an unsettled sense of chaos and quiet intertwined, the track introduces an artist with a clearly unique vocal sound and production approach – as well as a level of self-awareness that’s not often highlighted in contemporary music.

The artwork and the song’s concept walk hand in hand to intrigue and provoke thought. While there’s an anthem-like nature to the song’s hook, there’s a little more detail and depth to the verses, and by the time the whole thing is over you’re likely to find yourself sitting back and pondering the very lifestyle that is the party followed by the social post about it; followed by the next party.

The track doesn’t go against the concept of party and post – far from it, actually taking to embrace it and confidently lead the way. At the same time though, there’s a definite air of darkness to the presentation, and that begs you to consider the artistry of it all a little more intently.

Nikol Star has a sound that feels relevant to today’s world of hip hop and RnB crossovers, but it’s also a sound and style that could well build up a collection of songs easily recognisable as unique and loaded with specific personality. You know the tone once you’ve heard it, and that makes a big difference.
