New Key Cut Me Out

-

Funky guitar riffs and full production light up an old-school disco vibe, as New Key introduces the seventh full-length indie album See The Light, with the catchy upbeat single Cut Me Out.

Hailing from the Netherlands, New Key is an elusive modern artist, writing and recording songs organically, and with little concern for social media or image – the music speaks for itself.

Cut Me Out is an indie rock ode to that honest and skilful approach, and is reflective of an artist with a lifetime of experience at the helm. The vocals are accessible, the songwriting too – a story that’s broadly relatable in its loving highs and painful lows. The structure is also faultless, a well-written song, with a lasting appeal and a great use of movement from one section to the next; holding attention perfectly well throughout, with a passionate lift during the final fifth.

The idea is simple, someone with whom we were once connected, suddenly cutting us out. Short lines blend poetry and personal anecdote, and meanwhile, despite the heartache and scorn of the lyrics, Cut Me Out holds closely to this four-to-the-floor anthemic synth-pop and rock arrangement and energy, lifting the mood and naturally providing a snappy, catchy earworm of a hook along the way.
