Celtic metal, alt-folk and rock – bold and beautiful vocals, distortion and delicacy consistently ebbing and flowing – Morganway carve out an unmistakable lane, with this piercingly emotive and gritty new anthem I Feel The Rain.
Having supported the iconic Skunk Anansie last year, Morganway undoubtedly note subtle influence from the indie giants, but their sound is altogether it’s own thing when you completely immerse yourself in the likes of this track.
The band let things progress from the organic, acoustic stylings of guitar and strings in the beginning, through to the fully-loaded, distorted metal drop and vocal volume of the hook. All the while, our front woman’s voice meanders through these changing stages and feelings with faultless versatility.
Then we get the instrumental break, from folk intimacy again to the soaring rock solo, and it’s clear that the music, the design, the vibe, is all just as important as the concept and vocal performance. As strange as that is to say, it’s sadly a rare quality in modern music. But here we see it mastered.
I Feel The Rain resounds as a relatable anthem, soulfully screaming out on behalf of coming apart, feeling lost but perhaps embracing the pain, and even the accompanying video effectively captivates and reinforces that poignancy and power.
A phenomenal UK band – absolutely worth knowing about right now.
