Appealing from the outset but increasingly evocative for its passionate full-band progression and the sheer vocal intensity of our protagonist’s delivery, Bad Liar feels like a contemporary twist on the likes of Mumford and Sons, only with a singer-songwriter purity that’s genuine – personal and revealing, vulnerable, as well as poetic.
Gathering momentum throughout, the ultimate groove promised by Mckay is no doubt suggestive of a sublime live show – something that hopefully comes to light across the global stages in the coming months and years. For now, however, Bad Liar acts as a fine introduction.
