Maxim Whispers of the Eternal

-

Introducing one of those rare occasions when the artwork perfectly encapsulates the essence and style of a release. Maxim’s Whispers of the Eternal is a uniquely vast and rather epic exploration of cinematic depth, built around an idea and dramatic vocal opening, layered with soaring guitar solos and distorted chords united in this progressive and fiercely soulful instrumental.

Initially intriguing, atmospheric but with a clear sense of rising anticipation and incoming weight, Whispers of the Eternal talks of death and noble names, of self preservation and fame. It’s a brief lyrical passage that’s soon overtaken by a simple rise and fall riff, and later by the persistently increasing power and presence of the completed arrangement.

Multiple layers of guitar and the ever marching tumble of those drums create an intoxicating hard rock listen – a progressive metal instrumental that’s both immersive and skilful. We’re shown the fast-fingered ability of Maxim, but not at the expense of purpose or engagement – far from it. The composition and its intentions, its mood, stand tallest throughout, and only when the vibe needs to shift, the passion needs to rise, do we get more heightened moments of expression and ability woven into the mix.

Maxim sets the bar high and hits the mark with this project, an epic and movie-like presentation of sheer musicianship and thoughtful, audience-aware production. Whispers of the Eternal is fascinating and satisfying, and will likely give you a keen interest in hearing more of Maxim’s music.
