Boldly and energetically igniting appreciation for the things we cannot control, Mangomichi’s infectious dance-pop track Never Go Back draws focus to the fact that we are all made from our history and the things that came before us.
By way of provocative, inspiring lyrics, with a timeless dance-pop floor-filler vibe at the forefront, Never Go Back is a euphoric earworm for sure, but it’s also one with a refreshing and noteworthy degree of conscious thought and substance at its core.
Having first conceived the idea for Mangomichi six years ago, the release of Never Go Back marks the final visualisation of the ‘relevance theory’ in action. This infatuation with humans being the aliens or monsters that we all fear was first ignited through the writing of a book, in which Mangomichi explored the concept of finding meaning and direction in life, but of this being largely derived from unchangeable aspects like place of birth and given religion.
Mangomichi also seeks to draw contemplation towards The Seven Shadow Elements, and a series of general principles that help fans work towards and achieve their truest and most honourable potential. There’s far more to it of course, but the project is ongoing, and Never Go Back is an effective contemporary introduction to these ideas.
On the surface, an uplifting bounce of a summertime soca-pop anthem, fusing dancehall big-band rhythms and colours with impassioned vocal refrains and shouts that quickly raise the pulse. Underneath that, an inspiring ode to a story that has captivated the Mangomichi headspace for many years, and this is still very much the beginning.
