Euphoric dance-pop with a breathy softness and emotional core. LA songwriter and artist Louis Torre accesses the beating heart of California living, with the emotional poignancy and sublime production of new single feel something.
Built around a retro synth warmth and a quietly expressive opening verse, feel something goes on to captivate for its lyrical honesty and heart, and all the more so for its uplifting EDM drop – a moment later enhanced all the more so by cinematic and moving strings.
The whole thing feels hypnotic and ambient, something fit for the likes of The Beach‘s soundtrack – an ethereal wash of escapism, which, quite rightfully, is quick to make you feel something.
“I’m so over parties in the hills – Skip all the small talk I’m so unfulfilled. It’s all superficial, I need something real – Something I can feel.”
Louis Torre’s return this season brings a profoundly introspective yet relatable songwriting strength, and outright precise and powerful production to back that. The vocals are stunning, genuine and distinct, gentle yet appropriately tired and desperately seeking that something real.
The new single focuses in on the complexities of grief, the sense of nothingness it leaves us with – the inescapable weight of having lost something crucial. The song is hopeful and atmospheric musically, but boldly heartbroken from a lyrical and performance perspective, and that juxtaposition lets these ideas and that cleverly looping hook really sink in.
