Anthemic indie rock vibes blend gritty authenticity and a refreshing sense of character – Scottish duo KNØWLEDGE offer strong grooves, creative lyrics and indie-rock power, for The Farmer.
Instantly likable for this nostalgic fusion of raw distorted rock and uniquely expressive, recognizable vocals, the lighter female lead adds a sort of Cranberries tone, only the resulting subtlety of the two voices paired (as well as the overall writing style) leans far more towards grunge and perhaps even the indie-rock of the noughties.
In short, KNØWLEDGE have captured a sound of their own with this release, focusing on topic and mood, the realness of the guitar, bass and drum combination, and the outright recognizable integrity of the whole set-up.
An impressive and quickly enjoyable debut, to say the very least. That melancholic hook is infectious, think Queens of The Stone Age but with a twist of singer-songwriter depth and original lyricism that further raises the bar.
Brilliant, an easy must for the playlists this summer. I look forward to hearing more from KNØWLEDGE – and indeed to catching a live show some time soon.
