Kevin Millan - So Over You - Stereo Stickman

Kevin Millan So Over You

-

Bringing together the simple strum of a guitar chord pattern of warmth and familiarity, with a dreamy electric layer to introduce things with appeal, Kevin Millan unites nostalgia and newness throughout the ultimately high-octane power-pop-rock anthem So Over You.

Pop-punk in essence as it kicks in but more notably rooted amidst the heavier instrumental realms and pop-rock songwriting alike, So Over You proves as intimate and revealing as its title promises, and effectively elevates the Kevin Millan sound as being devoted to songwriting, expression, and its own genre-fusing identity.

Making fine use of contrast throughout, the track offers those essential arena-crowd moments of rise up, fade out, drop back in, for a powerful headbanger hit of escapism. At the same time, the vocal suggests influence from the nineties and early noughties pop-punk legends for its accessible, passionate yet relatable tone and delivery.

Once again, the sound is familiar but fresh, and the hook makes sure to linger indefinitely after listening. Really nicely done, not too intense but welcoming and somewhat empowering by nature. I look forward to hearing more.
