Singer and songwriter Katrina Kusa mixes things up yet again with a stylish take on contemporary pop – blending unique production and vocal experimentation, under a unique storytelling structure that quickly leaves its mark.
Progressing through its various stages in a fairly unpredictable way, Two Times builds up and drops in with power, keeping things spacious yet creative, and holding close to a concept whilst throwing in more than a few modern references and language choices to effectively remain rooted amidst today’s sound.
The contrast between sections is a definite strong point, there’s a fine use of juxtaposition, from stylish to emotional, and as suggested – that build up works well.
A little alternative pop fused with a dash of synth-play, EDM and even hip hop – an interesting single, barely stretching past the two-minute mark but hitting with impact regardless.
