kasperisreal wake up/4:33am

Impressively mysterious production meets boldly conscious rap bars and a smooth, whispered RnB hook. kasperisreal carves out a completely original lane, with the likes of his provocative and dreamy to intriguing single wake up/4:33am.

Featuring a constantly shifting dynamic from one warped synth moment to the next, with equally warped vocals contrasting cleaner-mixed bars and a smooth hook – plus a stop-start energy that allows the beat to fall away and reignite intermittently – wake up/4:33am is impressively unique. At the same time, however, the music feels relevant, inviting, immersive, and it satisfies in the way that any modern rap and pop crossover or trip-hop offering should.

kasperisreal highlights this same sense of creative freedom and versatility throughout his repertoire. The Ancy collab 1mil is equally mellow and lo-fi by design, with the chilled out delivery of bars both hard-hitting and relaxed in topic. A simple backdrop lets the rhythm and mood of the track take precedence, and makes for an easy ambiance to escape into.

Despite the warmth and embrace of the finish though, there are so many bars and ideas within, which provoke thought – deeper ideas that impress and connect – and this alone makes the music worth listening to more than a few times.

Also released in recent months, to her adopts something of a more humble mix – an atmospheric ode to romantic longing and intimacy, with colourful keys and a mildly melodic vocal-lead still quietly expressive and dreamy by nature. The song draws focus to another side of the versatile kasperisreal, but also holds true to this ethereal and intimate performance style and design that rings loud throughout his repertoire.

Finally, from the three-track EP Where’d the time go?, sleep introduces things with all of the above strengths – an hypnotic ode to the unconscious healing or insomniac opposition of the topic, with emo-rap verses switching between subtle melody and rap, and a wholly wave-like production letting the music surround and envelop its audience in this intimate and rightfully dreamy space.
