Joshua Milú Sucito: A Home

-

Heavy beats and a quirky twist of character – seamless euphoric synths and snappy hooks – an interesting, kaleidoscopic fusion of qualities, makes up the bounce and bravado of Joshua Milú’s EP Sucito: A Home.

Mayhem is the well-titled introduction, at track that’s bold and attention-grabbing to begin with, but later hypnotically rhythmic and catchy. OATMEAL follows with a similar weight and charm combined – vocal fragments repeated, a conceptual simplicity and addictive dance beat to keep you locked into the movement of the music.

Then for A Home, we enter a kind of trip-hop soul-pop realm of falsetto vocal meanderings and a more suave RnB to House groove. This track is a personal favourite, poignant and performative, gifting a kind of earworm quality but with enough alternative energy to really hit with original impact.

You get addicted to this progression, these repetitions, the soulful peaks, and it feels like something born of influences ranging from Moby and Massive Attack to Fatboy Slim and Gnarls Barkley. In my view, Joshua Milú reaches the pinnacle of memorable production here, and A Home is quick to assert itself as an outstanding modern track.
