J.Con Late Nights

-

Following dreams and delivering the calm, contemplative vibes required to highlight a clear love for making music, J.Con brings together five smooth hip hop and RnB songs, for the aptly-titled EP Late Nights.

From the outset, Way Too Long presents as a curious, calming ode to reconnecting with an old friend or lover. The track notes colourful, easy-going production, and mellow, melodic vocals that directly address the object of interest.

After this, Situations kicks into something more of an emo-trap fusion. With features from GUALA!+, Korah, and Dwavy, the track feels like a familiar dose of auto-tuned storytelling, with ethereal bells and tones lighting up the outer edges, to hold close to that intimate Late Nights aura.

For My Heart, the essential ear-worm moment pours through, a simple wave-like rise and fall of a tune, and confident rap verses building contrast in between. The song is fearlessly honest, vulnerable, and deeply affectionate; self-reflective. These qualities help make it a memorable highlight from the Late Nights EP.

Arrangement always matters, and the heavier beat and higher-energy vocals of Bandz helps raise the pulse a little, with a long-form vocal outpouring and a mildly darker, more uncertain vibe, to take things in a fresh and intriguing direction. The versatility of J.Con is subtle buy undeniable, as you make your way through the five tracks of Late Nights.

Wrapping things up, the iconic J.Con single, Kobe – wavy production, a distinct, descending chord pattern, and a catchy chorus; a topical, stylish ode to self-confidence and romantic connection. The track is bright, unignorable, slick and smart, with a perfect unity between voice and production, and the energy rises throughout. It’s an addictive outpouring of desire, intertwined with an uplifting, memorable groove – a definite hlighgiht, and the ideal way to close down the sentimental escapism of Late Nights.
