Quirky alt-pop with a strong sense of identity – HONEY keeps things creatively contemporary with this melodic and ambient, emotionally honest new single.
This contrast is reinforced by the variation of the leading voice – multiple melodies, moments of breathy delicacy and others of more passionate outcry, even a rap verse for added eclecticism. And all of this helps highlight the changing stages and increasing angst of the lyrics.
An intriguing and aptly-titled Sleeping Ugly makes use of a select few layers to create a heavy yet spacious soundscape – one with a bold bass line and rhythm, in between softer moments for the verses.
Coming in at a fairly brief two minutes fifteen, Sleeping Ugly takes no time at all to hit with impact, and given the rising siren-style outro and intensity – there’s a clear potential for even heavier dance remixes to take the reigns.
