Hauntingly raw and intimate in both lyrical honesty and presentation, GloriousM crafts a painfully true depiction of adoration, love and heartbreak, for Lost In You.
From simple, even minimalist beginnings, through a clear sense of rising anticipation and passion, Lost In You follows an easy pairing of piano and voice, through various details and revelations, with the subtle application of strings and a reinforcing vocal layer as the intensity rises.
What’s impressive about the writing is how the verses lead with a kind of alternative, mildly unpredictable edge of style, whereas the hook resolves brilliantly for a more familiar and satisfying hit that wraps things up well. Then there’s the middle-8, at which point the lyrics and the pace increase and intensify further still. Always this is subtle, however, the evolution brings no drum section, no distortion, no bass – only the strings, the keys, and that quietly enchanting voice.
A hint of reverb gifts everything a dreamy quality in that classically emotive way, and ultimately the whole thing presents a deeply moving exploration of being utterly and inescapably lost within the thought of a certain other. It’s a fascinating listen, and addictively poignant. Hopefully there’s plenty more music to come.
