EspeceX Sweet Sadness

-

Intoxicating ambiance, alluring for its unique fusion of human and electronic threads of design, pave the way for a distinctly colourful, immersive but uncertain journey. The latest release from producer EspeceX perfectly encapsulates the juxtaposition of its title, as we venture through these contrasting realms of Sweet Sadness.

Partly quirky and partly intense in its passion and heart, the highs and lows of Sweet Sadness are unmistakable by nature – sometimes even confusing. On the one hand we get this strong sense of groove, a rhythm and chord progression that never falter; a comforting embrace or anchor for the creativity found elsewhere. Then on the other, we get fragments of varying voices, bouncy synths, keys, hints of rhythmic warping and snapshots of sound.

It’s a scratch-play style performance that speaks volumes on behalf of enjoying the process, but it’s also well-rooted amidst a clear intention and mood; leaving the listener with a level of uplift intertwined with a desire to perhaps think things through more deeply.

All the more impressive with each revisit. Once again, EspeceX has managed to capture a sound that’s entirely its own thing – something like Lemon Jelly if reimagined in a cinematic modern world. Sweet Sadness is a pleasure to let play – beautifully creative, unpredictable yet enjoyable and distinguished. A great way to re-engage with the scene.
