Deeply consuming instrumental compositions – a unique creative approach blending traditional classical roots with unpredictable elements of cinematic and even EDM production.

New York based composer, pianist and doctor Esmond Rubinov has achieved noteworthy successes with single projects over the years, but now returns to the bare essentials of composition, with the highly-anticipated launch of his debut album The Year After.

Drawing inspiration from the emotional complexity of musical compositions by Philip Glass, Joep Beving, and Michel Legrand, as well as the cinematic vastness of creators like Max Richter and Hans Zimmer, Esmond Rubinov’s devotion to the craft has already elevated his name and existing repertoire beyond that of the vast majority of independents. The composer has had his original works placed in renowned television shows like Will, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Say Yes to The Dress, and alongside these studio contributions, Rubinov has performed on iconic global stages in the US, Europe, and the Middle East.

Despite such notable successes, however, his new album The Year After is set to present an unprecedented revelation of depth; a boldly personal exploration of resilience and transformation that’s genuine, unfiltered, and wholly immersive.

Taking inspiration from styles as broadly reaching as Neo Classical, Cinematic and Beach House, Esmond Rubinov always begins each creative arrangement with the beating heart that is piano, and builds around this an hypnotic, deeply moving or euphoric story and sentiment that’s impossible to ignore.

The debut work Salt utilises those traditional classical roots, but quickly shines light on the nuance and artistry of Rubinov’s playing, in everything from rhythm to melody, patterns, and structure. The track is being used to the score the film No Life on Mars, set for release later this year, and its stylistic aura notes influences amidst the catalogues of Max Richter, Hans Zimmer, and Leodovico Eunaidi.

An intoxicating introduction, but far from a showcase of the true breadth and contemplation of Esmond Rubinov’s incoming collection. 2026 will see the scattered launch of twenty original works, a distinguished venture, beginning with the evocative strings and paired keys of an enchanting Salt, and continuing through an unwavering series of releases both distinct and unique in melody, theme, and variation. From delicacy to EDM, chill house to cinematic; from quickness to quietude and back. Not to be missed.
