DerrtyBoi$lim x Anthony Llewellyn No Chorus No Hook

-

Old-school Gospel and RnB vibes strike up a soulful vocal lead, for a genre-fusing anthem that celebrates the power of collaboration. Youngstown, Ohio rapper Derrtyboi$lim joins forces with sublime vocalist Anthony Llewellyn, for the inspiring and nostalgic Hip Hop single No Chorus No Hook.

Featuring a riding bass line and a classic beat, No Chorus No Hook contrasts the fluidity and melody of Llewellyn’s hook with canned vocal effects and the rap flow and grit of Derrtyboi$lim’s bars. The result is an evocative and uplifting track, timeless by design but also captivating as it gathers momentum through this genuine and deeply personal storyline.

Forever writing lyrics inspired by his own life experiences, Derrtyboi$lim often draws upon the journey of his younger brother Austin Taylor Burke. His mother has spent her time and energy committing to achieving the early release of her son Austin, believing that his conviction was wrongful and that freedom and justice are the only way forward.

In his singles Bad Dream and FTP (Free The People), Derrtyboi$lim directly explores this life experience and his brother’s struggles to find freedom from incarceration.

Most recently discovered by George Floyd’s uncle Selwyn Jones, after their families connected during a police shooting protest in Chicago, Derrtyboi$lim has gone from strength to strength with his original releases and rising social presence. His family are ultimately working towards building an impactful legacy within the Hip Hop and RnB realms.

Just two minutes and forty-five seconds in full, No Chorus No Hook is both gritty and smooth in its fusion of realism and optimistic musical vibes. The two vocalists create a striking dynamic for the track, making this an old school but also distinctly contemporary release, with a long-form hook and sharp bars that compel you to tune in more closely to this poetic realism and heartfelt sense of intention.

It’s an unmistakable single, in short – inspired by the legends of Hip Hop and RnB’s past, with clever wordplay and a wave-like progression from simple appreciation to deeper references on life and the world at large.
