dePresno - SILENCE - Stereo Stickman

dePresno SILENCE

-

Stripped-back and soulful, just vocals, piano, and plenty of space – dePresno connects from the heart, with SILENCE.

Leading with the natural strength of a cleanly-mixed, delicate and expressive voice, Silence pours through as well-suited and indeed reflective of true intimacy.

The progression remains subtle, revealing and honest but simple and striking for its sense of hope in the face of struggle and outside impact. The humility of the rhythm and additional production details reinforces this journey, and helps elevate the effective resolve each time that optimistic hook falls back into view; a moment to pause, to appreciate now, and to forget everything else.

Artistically refreshing for its spacious self-awareness, Silence makes fine use of the quiet moments between lyrics and movements, to help further underline the concept and the singer’s own connection to and longing for it.

Slowly but surely the track gathers momentum, more of that positive energy and gratitude, and this bigger-band arrangement rains down just in time to shine light on the more passionate side of dePresno’s own faultless and now powerful vocal delivery. The tumble and crash of the drums brings drama and desperation to hold on for longer still to the Silence, ultimately completing the evolution from quiet contemplation, through uncertainty, to taking back the moment and clutching it for all it’s worth.

Beautifully-crafted, familiar and professional yet not immediately reminiscent of anything else in particular – a welcomed take on a valued sentiment. I look forward to hearing more.
