Whatever you’re doing right now, grab some headphones, turn up the volume, and let the blissful good vibes and unity of this single rain down around you.
D.Tech strikes again, always with something unexpected, some new direction. His last single saw a more personal string of emotion make its way into the music, and this track takes that even further – emerging with outstretched arms to embrace and uplift everyone who listens.
What I love about this creatively is the slow build-up, the unique structural set-up. The song is far too short – something rarely said. Two minutes could easily be six as these layers and details rise up and gather further momentum. At the same time, this positivity – We don’t need an ego – we are only one team… – it works beautifully to bring everyone together.
Musicians, people in general – division is gaining improper strength in our society it seems, making us forget that we are all the same in the end; all human, all living in this one world. Maybe the song’s short life-span helps that concept and mood really kick in all the more-so. One thing’s for sure – it makes you far more likely to press play again.
Turning away from competitive nature, D.Tech marches to his own beat every time, and this particular single sees him take a bold leap away from the ‘usual’ topics and sounds of today. Having said that, you can hear the contemporary twang, the relevance, and the professionalism, and all of this works in favour of a broader appeal.
One Team is something quite stunning, and gorgeously well-timed as one of the first memorable indie hits of 2020 so far. Complete with powerful, emotive piano work, a light and tripped-up, creative beat, soulful vocals, and a simple yet satisfying melody-line, everything about the song works in favourite of its underlying sentiments.
I can’t wait to hear what the rest of the year brings through from Miami’s D.Tech. Turn this one up loud.
